Legislation regarding building work is under continued review, to provide regulations and technical guidance to ensure that basic building standards are maintained.
Recently more onerous regulations have been introduced in relation to energy efficiency. This has provided an obligation to meet improved energy targets when carrying out new works or alterations to your home.
Most projects require building control approval and some useful guidance can be found at the planning portal website.
Oxford City Council have published a list of work which does not require building control approval.
